Scheduled Actions

Scheduled Actions turn Gemini from a reactive assistant into a proactive one. You describe a recurring task in natural language — Gemini executes it on your defined schedule, whether or not you're actively using the app. The feature launched on June 6, 2025, and is available on Google AI Pro and Ultra plans.

Setting Up a Scheduled Action

Setup requires no special interface — just describe what you want and when in a regular Gemini chat message. Gemini detects scheduling intent from natural language and asks you to confirm before activating the action.

Examples that trigger the scheduling flow:

• “Give me a daily weather summary and outfit suggestion every morning at 7am.”
• “Every Monday at 9am, summarise what's in my Google Calendar for the week.”
• “Send me three content ideas for my newsletter every Thursday evening.”
• “Generate a motivational image every Sunday at 10am.”

Once confirmed, the action is added to your scheduled actions list and runs automatically. Results are delivered via push notification and email. You can view, edit, pause, or delete any scheduled action from the Gemini settings.

Limits and Constraints

Goal Scheduled Actions (Beta)

In February 2026, Google launched a more advanced variant in beta: Goal Scheduled Actions. Rather than running on a fixed time interval, Goal actions let you define an objective and Gemini monitors conditions and executes proactively when those conditions are met.

For example: “Alert me when a new research paper on LLM evaluation is published” or “When my Google Calendar shows a gap of two or more hours tomorrow, suggest a deep-work task.” Gemini monitors the relevant data sources and fires the action based on content, not clock time.

Availability

Scheduled Actions require a Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscription for personal accounts. Google Workspace Business and Enterprise qualifying editions also support Scheduled Actions for work accounts. The feature is not available on the Free tier.

Practical Use Cases

• Daily briefings: Morning digest of weather, calendar, and top news delivered before you start work.
• Content workflows: Weekly social media idea generation, newsletter content, or blog post prompts on a fixed schedule.
• Research cadence: Daily roundup of a topic you're tracking — competitors, market news, a technology area.
• Wellness prompts: Afternoon movement reminder, end-of-day reflection prompt, or weekly goal review.
